On wabi-sabi, and the beauty of the unfinished bowl.

A meditation on imperfection — the cracked rim, the off-center whisk, the silence between sips.

A close-up of dense, undulating moss in deep forest green.

Wabi-sabi resists translation. The closest we can offer is this: beauty that admits its own impermanence. A bowl thrown slightly off-center. A glaze that pooled unevenly in the kiln. A crack repaired in gold, not hidden but honoured.

We think about this every time a bowl leaves the workshop in Fukuoka. Nothing here is engineered to be flawless — it is engineered to be honest. The unevenness is not a defect to correct in the next batch. It is the batch.
